Facial Recognition

How it noticed something I never did

I’ve been a FOREVER Ambassador for ten years; in fact, I joined on September 6, 2016. Over the years, I’ve seen the company grow, and I have embraced the products that we sell.

One of my favorite products that was introduced was facial recognition. One of my clients said it best: “This organized my photos in five hours, something that I’d been trying to do for five years.” It was true. In just a few hours, it grouped all the faces into many, many circles, and all I had to do was name the circles.

But it’s done a few other things that are really extraordinary.

I’ve been gathering photos into my account, as I said, for 10 years. More so over a few specific years; in fact, my account says I have over 70,000 things in it. But let’s put it this way: it didn’t happen overnight. After all, I have my own things, my parents’ photos, and even my grandparents’ photos, so it was a process.

I’d scan photos and add them to FOREVER, and if my mom or grandmother had written on the back, I’d put that information in the description. Some had notes, but not many.

Those few notes became major clues when I updated the circles. I’d come across a circle and think I had no idea who that person was. I knew it was a relative, but I had no idea who. All I’d have to do was click the facial recognition circle, look at all the photos in it, and see if “just one” had a name, and the mystery was solved for all the others.

Today was another revelation. I was searching for a photo for a book that I’m creating (stay tuned; I’ll share that when it’s done), and I found the photo above of my parents and my mom’s cousin, who was a bridesmaid. In the facial recognition side panel, it said my grandmother was in the photo, and I thought… well, that’s a mistake; she’s not in the photo. But then I took a closer look, and sure enough, she was there, and I’d never noticed that detail before. Now that I’ve seen her, I can’t unsee her. LOL

Now I know what my grandmother looked like on that day back in 1954, and I think that’s pretty cool.

Our world is filled with AI these days. Some of it we might not like, but in this case I’ve found that it’s helping me organize my photos.
